Possibly the best thing about Fairy Falls is that itís 4/5 of the way to two wonderful, accessible back-country geysers, Splash and Imperial. When I was last there, in the summer of 2003, it was possible to walk across Imperialís run-off right up to Splash, but now the channel is ankle-deep and more than stretched-legs wide, and the water is seriously hot, even though Imperial is many yards farther up the trail. Imperial erupts for three or four minutes at a time, then is quiescent for only a minute or so. It is constant and regular. It has among the most spectacular of run-offs for its size, and itís at the bottom of a small rise that affords an easy view from above.

Footsore, itís on to the Grand Tetons. Stay tuned for Trip Report Part II!
