After a quick look around Hayden (so this is where all the bison are!) and a stop at Canyon, where the power goes out right after we place our dinner order Ė you canít cook over the nice gas lamps the staff brings out to light our night Ė the power comes back on and we get our dinner. What is it about being in Yellowstone that cranks up the appetite like that?

Itís a moonless night when we head back to Roosevelt over Dunraven Ė what an opportunity to try out one of the beautiful new pull-outs for star-gazing! The Milky Way is solid with stars, like Iíve never seen it before. Wouldnít a glass-ceiling cabin be a nice thing?? It was too cold to linger under as glorious a night sky as Iíve ever seen. If we could have managed to stay warm, I would not have been able to sleep with that cosmic spectacle to watch above me.
