I am traveling with my boyfriend Kevin, who has been to Yellowstone about three time since the first time we went together in the late Ď80s; itís been five years since his last trip. Iíve lost count of my trips, but I think Iím approaching my 20th since my first visit in 1981.

Our flight from Chicago to Bozeman via Denver is blessedly safe and the skies so clear itís easy to spot the Tetons poking straight up to the west, then to our left below, a Lake that could only be Yellowstone, then a Valley that could only be Lamar, then Paradise, with the River glinting in the late afternoon light.

After a quick stop in Bozeman to take on supplies (bear spray, junk food: donít leave home without them!) we meet Ballpark at Buffalo Jump on the edge of Livingston for a good dinner and a good chat. As the sun sank towards California, we tuned up our ďwildlife at the edgeĒ radar. One or two coyotes and one road-bison later, weíre surprised by a large critter flying right across our headlights, which I take to be an owl. Then weíre flashed by deer with light bulb eyes. Finally, itís headís down and feet up at our cozy Roosevelt cabin with bath. AHHH. HOME!
