Wednesday, June 22, 2005 During the Loon hikes last Saturday I had talked to Jereb about hiking to Shoshone Geyser Basin with him and some other geyser gazers on Thursday. The plan was to hook up with him today to get the details. With this in mind we started working our way towards the Upper Geyser Basin.

We had been seeing quite a few solo Bison bulls around, but the only bison calves I had seen were far away through the spotting scope. I really wanted to see some up close. As we reached the intersection by the Norris to Canyon road, we decided to take a quick sidetrip to Hayden Valley, hopefully to see some bison calves. We were not disappointed. Just south of where the Mary Mountain trail is, we saw a very large herd of bison. It was awesome! We spent about 1 hours watching the herd.
