Sunday June 19, 2005 Fathers Day We met Ballpark Frank for breakfast at the Lake Lodge Cafeteria (we were late) and then headed to the Fishing Bridge Visitor Center to meet JD and Roadie before beginning our hike. We were told that some park employees had hiked up Avalanche Peak earlier in the week and it had taken them 5 hours to climb because of all of the snow. Undeterred we drove to the trailhead to begin our hike. While we were getting ready at the trailhead a couple came off the trail and said that they had run into deep snow and had turned around. Still undeterred , we began the hike. Ballpark Frank took the lead and set a pace that everyone was easily able to maintain. He sure does a great job of leading these hikes. In spots there was a good amount of snow, but certainly nothing that made us even consider turning back.
