The group eventually went to LeHardy’s Rapids to watch the fish swimming upstream. Some of the group headed out to other destinations. BPF and I tried to get photo’s of a group of Harlequin ducks. Roadie claims that if she gets out her camera gear the ducks will always leave, kind of like KenD and a bear, so I persuaded her to leave her camera gear in the truck. They were so inactive however, that I think even the threat of Roadie’s camera gear could not have gotten them to move.

Afterwards, some of the group went for dinner at Lake Lodge cafeteria. Tree Mover shared with us that the Indian word for “Poor Hunter” is “Vegetarian”. This was good natured ribbing directed towards JJ. She has been a “Poor Hunter” for 15 years. Eventually dinner broke up and the remaining Loons had to go their separate ways. Ballpark Frank, JJ, and I headed to Hayden Valley to do some critter watching. It was a quiet night; we saw only some elk and bison. We stayed out in the valley past dark, and listened to, rather than watched animals. We enjoyed some coyotes howling to each other and heard some weird sound that Roadie later identified as a snipe. We finally called it a night a little after 10:30pm. It’s hard for us to end any day spent with Loons. We enjoy their company immensely.

That's all for now. More Trip Report at a later time.
